Omron
Blood Pressure Monitors
Early Vision
As the audience views any one of these posters, their eyes are drawn to the bright colors of the unhealthy food (burger, wings & milkshake). The generous portions of food are located up front and center in the composition and arranged in a way that implies a jerking motion to the right and off of the composition. In addition to the idealized food, the facial expressions of the subjects is very captivating because of their animal-like craze toward eating their food. You really feel like something is physically holding them back from eating.
Later Vision
From an organizational standpoint, the cropping of the composition really helps the viewer gather an overall impression of the poster's message extremely fast. The pulling of the subjects off of the composition creates dynamic space that help point out the subtle branding and logo in the top left corner. The gradient of the back ground helps the subject pop out even further. The expression of the subject and the food become grouped together and seen as one unit after the processing. This is one of those posters that grabs your attention quickly and relays it's message without delay.
Recall
After the viewer has gathered an initial impression of the piece of graphic design they begin serial processing. As part of serial processing, they are doing a slower secondary scan of the piece looking for more visual data to add their mental schema. When the viewer does this, they see that the object pulling the subject off of the composition is actually a medical cuff used by doctors to measure blood pressure. All of a sudden the food, the cuff and the logo and branding all make sense.
